2 hours
Location

Description

We all know the great mythical monsters of antiquity featuring in several myths as well as the Percy Jackson series!

The Medusa, the Minotaur, the Centaurs and the Tritons, mythical creatures that have linked their name to ancient Greece. Greek mythology and ancient literature have left us an endless list of creatures that sometimes helped the great heroes of antiquity and sometimes persecuted them. But what is the backstory of these mythical beings? How were they created and what was their role in the society of Ancient Greece?

Through our tour of the Acropolis Museum, we will have the opportunity to get to know the monsters of antiquity better. We will recognize them through the ceramic vessels, bronze objects and marble sculptures of the museum’s permanent exhibition. We will tell their story, look for their characteristic symbols and understand their meaning for the people of that time.

Maybe this way we can discover the creature that has been hiding behind the façade of the monster.
